I ordered the Take classic based on reviews on Amazon and Consumer reports. I would also recommend the Atlantic stands to go with them. I found setting the subwoofer crossover frequency potentiometer to maximum and the power level to 50% resulted in the best blending of subwoofer to micro speakers.
I am very pleased with the substitution. This achieved its purpose. The vendor advised me they would upgrade me to the RC micro 5.1 model since they were our of stock on the Classics.
My room was large and I wanted to be enveloped in sound so I purchased a second Energy subwoofer positioned diagonally across the room. They sound crystal clear and are great connected to the Onkyo HT-RC180. I have cranked the volume up to uncomfortably loud levels with no noticeble distortion.
I also backed off the power level to 40% on both subwoofers. They are inexpensive, well made and the speakers mount perfectly although the mounting bolt was almost too short but that could be easily remedied with a slightly longer bolt.
Great to look at, wonderful sound and then there's the sub. The Energy 12 inch sub is a window rattler. The price puts these in the realm of the truly great small speakers.
The only drawback that I have for these is that the placement of the mounting hardware on the stands in reference to the screw holes in my speakers required me to mount them upside down in order to be able to fasten them to the stands. I bought 4 of these stands (2 x 2) to mount my Energy Take Classic speakers. The price is definitely right on these stands, they are heavy duty and are not easy to tip over with a sudden bump (which has happened a few times), and are easy to put together and set up. I don't think that this affects the sound all that much and when I filled the grills over you cant even tell so I am happy so far. Just wish the mount extended a little higher is all.
The speakers sound great. We had 1 satellite speaker that was defective, the seller was very responsive and shipped out a replacement speaker right away. The sellers are very professional, I would recommend doing business with this company in the future. Great experience.Chris
The speakers were crystal clear, and the subwoofer they sent me was amazing. I researched this product before getting it and C Net loved it and gave it some award. The sound quality is just amazing for music and games and great with movies. I would recommend this for everyone especially for the price this is an amazing set.
